My dog is ecstatic to wake up.
I am not sure if she is greeting the day or her pack that she has not seen in hours of sleep. But whatever the reason, She is a humbling sight in the morning.
She stretches one way then the other,
grabs a toy, a sock, or whatever is handy
& marches down the hallway -
Rear end swishing back and forth, ears crinkled.
She sometimes performs a spin in the living room -
a kind of slow paced wag around in a circle - nothing too fast.
It is morning after all.
& she always stops to greet the cat who gives her an apathetic stare at best.
Then she continues on - sashaying her way to the back door where she drops whatever object she's been holding to wait patiently until a thumbed one turns the handle. She then heads to the back yard with a jaunty step.
And I.... I stumble behind her..
bleary eyed and cloudy headed.
& I can't help but wonder where exactly she goes at night that she is so damn happy to be back in the morning! Does she astrally project to some land far far away?
I mean, she sleeps with us. She, myself, my husband and sometimes the cat all snuggled somewhat awkwardly in bed. The night is often spent just re-arranging our positions to accommodate hers or vice-versa.
So, she has to know that no one has gone anywhere.
Truthfully, I think this is just another lesson she is trying to teach me.
Be joyful.
It's a new day. A new opportunity for....
I don't know!! Anything really!
Greeting the day with a wag sets a much better mindset than grudgingly stumbling into it.
I tend to look at the morning with a SOSDD(same old shit different day) kind of attitude.
Bella sees.....
A NEW DAY!!!!
NEW STUFF!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!
A NEW DAY!!!!
NEW STUFF!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!
& this is yet another reason why I want to be like my dog when I grow up.
